The FIKA(S) Festival, in collaboration with the Cinémathèque québécoise, pays tribute to the Danish silent film industry by presenting a ciné-concert featuring Danish comedy duo Ole and Axel (Fy og Bi), an inspiration for Laurel and Hardy.
Description: The two friends, hoping to strike it rich on the shores of the North Sea, try their hand at fishing, which plunges them into a series of absurd situations.
Fy og Bi, Danish comedy duo born in the aftermath of the First World War and whose memory has, unfortunately, somewhat waned, is known in the English-speaking world under the name of Ole and Axel. Together, they shot about 50 films in Denmark – but also in Germany and Austria – and enjoyed international recognition until they disappeared from the screen in the 1940s.
