Don't miss the closing night of the festival showcasing the up-and-coming talent from Scandinavia. You'll discover the extraordinary Danish artist of Tanzanian origin, JJ Paulo, a rising star in Afrobeat.
JJ Paulo was born in Tanzania and raised in Denmark. Paulo has spent his life cultivating the traditional Sukuma culture of Tanzania, and today, he is proud that his music precisely reflects this heritage. The year 2023 has been pivotal for JJ Paulo, as the Danish Music Award Roots honored him with the "Concert Experience of the Year" award. The recognition underscores the energy JJ Paulo brings to his concerts, as well as the experience, music, and the cultural expansion of concertgoers' horizons that they take away. MTV Africa, KEXP, Eurosonic Festival, Roskilde Festival, Smukfest, and many other festivals and concert halls have had the pleasure of experiencing JJ Paulo's African Sukuma culture. In 2023 alone, Paulo played more than 75 concerts in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, and Iceland.

What is the open stage evening for the Nordic musical talent at the FIKA(S) festival? For FIKA(S): an opportunity to share its musical favorites with an audience that loves novelty and surprises. For the invited artists: the opportunity to perform for the first time in Quebec and Canada, in front of a new audience. For the audience: A conducive space for intimate concerts and new musical proposals. A final opportunity to celebrate with us until the following year.
